Parent Institute for Quality Education “PIQE”
Highland Elementary School is proud to announce our partnership with the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) that will bring parent engagement classes to our school! PIQE’s mission is to educate, empower, and transform parents to actively engage in their child’s education and strengthen parent-school collaboration in order to improve the academic achievement of students. Parents who are participating in the 6-week program will engage in sessions that focus on keeping their child in school, improving academic achievement, developing healthy relationships with school staff, and preparing their child for college and career. After the 6-week program, parents will participate in a principal dialogue session and a graduation ceremony. The program is offered in both English and Spanish on Wednesdays from 8:30am-10:00am or 6:00pm-7:30pm on the following dates: March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 30th, and April 6th with free child care provided for school-aged children in the evenings. We had 64 parents attend the information session that was held on Wednesday, February 17th! If you are interested in joining the class, please be sure to attend the next meeting.
